The North Pole — Meta Ads for E-commerce Sales & Retargeting

A real Facebook and Instagram Ads project for a multi-category online store selling gadgets, gifts, fashion and lifestyle products, focused on website purchases, retargeting, cost-per-purchase analysis and ongoing campaign optimisation.

The figures shown on this page come from the real Ads Manager account view included below. They represent the eight campaigns visible in that view rather than a guaranteed future result.

Project overview

Managing purchase-focused Meta campaigns across a broad product catalogue

The objective was to use Facebook and Instagram Ads to generate website purchases while comparing campaign efficiency across different products, audiences and retargeting opportunities.

The North Pole is a Facebook and Instagram-based e-commerce store offering gadgets, gift items, fashion and lifestyle products. My work focused on Meta Ads campaign management for website purchases, with campaign decisions guided by purchase volume, cost per purchase and account-level performance.

Because the store carries multiple product categories, performance can vary significantly between campaigns. This makes campaign-level comparison important while still keeping the wider account view in mind.

The Ads Manager screenshot shows a mix of active, paused and retargeting campaigns, providing useful context around how different campaign periods contributed to purchases, spend, reach and impressions.

What the account needed

  • Purchase-focused campaign management across multiple product categories.
  • Clear comparison of cost per purchase between campaigns.
  • Retargeting to re-engage people who had already interacted with the store.
  • Budget decisions based on real website-purchase performance.
  • A repeatable optimisation process for changing products and offers.
My approach

How I managed The North Pole Meta Ads campaigns

The campaign work focused on product demand, prospecting, retargeting, purchase-cost analysis and ongoing optimisation across a changing catalogue.

01 / Strategy

Product-Led Campaign Structure

Campaigns were organised around product opportunities, sales intent and practical budget levels.

02 / Audience

Prospecting & Retargeting

New-customer targeting was supported by retargeting campaigns designed to re-engage warmer audiences.

03 / Analysis

Cost-per-Purchase Review

Purchases, spend and cost per result were compared across campaigns to identify stronger sales performance.

04 / Optimisation

Performance-Led Budget Decisions

Budget and campaign decisions were guided by real purchase data instead of clicks or engagement alone.

What I optimised

The signals that mattered most across a multi-product e-commerce account

Performance was reviewed across product response, purchase volume, retargeting, spend and cost efficiency instead of one metric in isolation.

Product

Product-Level Performance

Different products and offers were reviewed separately because response could vary significantly across the catalogue.

Audience

Prospecting & Warm Audiences

Cold and warm audience activity was evaluated based on purchase response and campaign role.

Retargeting

Re-engaging Interested Users

Retargeting supported the wider account by giving warmer users another opportunity to return and purchase.

Efficiency

Cost per Purchase

Acquisition cost was reviewed alongside purchase volume and spend to understand campaign efficiency.

Budget

Spend Allocation

Budget decisions were informed by differences in campaign performance and changing product demand.

Review

Cross-Campaign Analysis

Purchases, cost per result, spend, reach and impressions were reviewed together before campaign adjustments were made.

Evidence

Campaign strategy and real Ads Manager performance

Scope of work

What I handled in the account

The project covered the core Meta Ads work required to run, compare and optimise purchase-focused campaigns for a multi-category online store.

Campaign Strategy

Purchase-focused planning, campaign structure and product-led sales decisions.

Audience Strategy

Prospecting and retargeting audiences built around product relevance and purchase intent.

Creative Direction

Matching products, offers and campaign messaging to different e-commerce opportunities.

Performance Analysis

Comparing purchases, cost per result, spend, reach and impressions across campaigns.

Purchase Measurement

Using website purchase results in Ads Manager as the primary optimisation signal.

Ongoing Optimisation

Adjusting campaign and budget decisions as product response and acquisition costs changed.

Key takeaways

What this e-commerce Meta Ads case study demonstrates

The account shows how purchase data, retargeting and campaign-level comparisons can support better paid-social decisions for a multi-category store.

  • Website purchases are a stronger decision signal than traffic or engagement alone for sales campaigns.
  • Cost per purchase can vary considerably between product campaigns, so account-wide averages need context.
  • Retargeting can complement prospecting by re-engaging warmer audiences.
  • Budget decisions are more useful when purchase volume, spend and acquisition cost are reviewed together.
  • Multi-category stores benefit from campaign-level comparisons because different products can perform very differently.
  • Ongoing optimisation helps identify which campaigns deserve more budget and which need adjustment.
